About Steve: Training Never Stops And That’s A Good Thing

Training it never stops, and that’s a good thing

I believe that my consistent practice of writing and submitting portions of it to my critique group keeps me moving forward. And by that I mean I have the opportunity to learn, grow, and get better.

I do the same with my body. At 70 I believe that movement, flexibility, and strength are the key to a long healthy life. I’m standing at my desk while writing this and when I done, I’ll order a treadmill to further improve my overall fitness. I may end up chipping teeth and bleeding from my face, but I really believe in movement.

Where I’ve fallen in the last year is the maintenance of my weapons handling and shooting skills, in particular transitions from one to the other and back. I can statis shoot both platforms well. It’s the draw and movement aspects that I will find training for. My goal, get back the muscle memory that I’ve let deteriorate.

Another area I will address is my faded memory for all things other than basic radio system operation. I’m working on my Ham license and will sign up for training with NC Scout Brushbeater.

I’ll throw in an advance medical course to refresh myself and learn the latest.

As the saying goes: Under pressure, you don't rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training.

One of the best reasons for getting out and training is people and new ideas. During training I’ve found new characters, learned new ideas, ways of doing and had a ton of fun.

I will do more in 2025. Will you?

Best Steve
